(there is a bit of hodge-podge to this background, I blame watching hellboy with a mix of detective shows)
In 1944 near the end of World War 2 Hitler's Occult society was thwarted on October 9th on a small island off the coast of Scotland. The old gods were left in their prison of ice and the world thought safe. What they didn't know was on October 17th they were not so thwarted.
Under the orders of Karl Rupert Krone leader of the society, with the guidance of Dom Gregorie Rasputin a small squad learned the location of a so called abandoned castle. The squad arrived at the castle 3 hours before dawn as instructed. High in the sky, illuminated by the pale moon stood the silhouettes of huge winged creatures. The spoke in old English, a dialect lost on the invaders.
An hour before dawn the hills were set a blaze, a decoy to lure the majority of the gargoyles free from the castle. As they fought the fire the sun rose and the castle was still. The squad slipped into the castle, ransacking it until they came across the items they sought. Deep in the castle they found them, the eggs. The very ones Rasputin told them off. They packed up the eggs and took them from the castle. The crates were moved non-stop until they reached a hidden German U boat. As the boat submerged bellow the waves they set off. It was 276 leagues off the northern coast the U boat was sunk by the allied forces and the cargo set a drift.
The gargoyles had been tracking the U boat as best as possible, but when it submerged they had lost it. When the U-boat was exploded the gargoyles recovered a large portion of the creates, but not all.
In 1974, an iceberg off the coast of Newfoundland. Originally thought to be fossilized eggs from prehistoric creatures the frozen eggs. It was in 1975, on the eve of November 29th that the frozen eggs were allowed to reach their 10 year mark. It was at that point that one particular egg hatched.
It was a grizzled old security guard that found him. The man having no family after the passing of his wife, decided to raise the creature. He had seen enough during the wars not to care of societies thoughts. He had heard rumors that creatures like this existed but he figured it was all stories from shell shocked soldiers.
The old man called the creature Nadox after an old cartoon he had tried to sell after the war but it never grew in popularity. Nadox was raised on old police shows, like Miami Vice, Tj Hooker, and Columbo. As time passed Nadox grew and the old guard aged. Forseeing his passing the guard advised Nadox to see the world, that there is more than just the relics of the past. The guard gave Nadox an old over coat and his rifle and watched him take the road by night.
It was not long on the road when Nadox realized the gun was useless to him. In his adopted fathers warning and talks of weapons he never explained how it worked. Well it could be used as a club if nothing else.
Nadox explored where he could heading south through the states, playing the role of the wandering detective. Most times he found an old abandoned warehouse and uses an old mannequin as a puppet to conduct his negotiations. The rouse only lasts for so long before he has to move on again.
He carries little with him, a trench coat and hat in honor of the classic detective motif from the 40’s-60’s, his father’s old springfield rifle that he uses as a telescope and a dufflebag to hide his stuff in. He keeps promising himself he’ll figure out what goes in the gun, but for now he just uses the scope so he can watch people.
He has found little interest in the south. As he has moved farther north, he has found a clan and oddities in New York, and though the Manhattan clan was hospitable and kind, there was still too much curiosity to be left still. He travels north, to the colder lands of the north in search of adventure and mystery…maybe a new hat…
Nadox stands about 6'3", and 245lbs, small some photos and comics describe for his kind, as do some other clans, but he's had hardly a normal up bringing. He has a dark slate gray skin color which makes it a bit easier to stay in the shadows, though his hands have ridges along the knuckles making them look pointed. He's always looking for some great mystery. He's given up sliding across car tops like Tj Hooker or Starksky and Hutch, his skin tends to ruin the paint job. He hides his wings under a large leather trench coat, taking it as the more fashionable choices for coats, and wears an indiana jones style safari hat. he carries the above mentioned items as well as a bag of 'tools' he got after stumbling upon a burglar and scaring the hell out of him.
Sorry for the long profile, i drifted off part way through. There is no picture yet, i can't draw and i have picky tastes.
